Whatcha Got to Lose?
After publishing my urban fantasy novel, Curse Me Not, which is about a woman who can cleanse curses off people’s auras, I was surprised by readers asking me about aura health. My novel was, by definition, fiction, so I turned to real world experts and was surprised that generally the answer doesn’t involve as much New Age mumbo-jumbo as I’d imagined. (Yep, I was skeptical!)
First off, let’s assume you’re not a zombie or a vampire. A big assumption, I know, but let’s start there because you have to be alive to have an aura. And by aura I mean some kind of emanation that surrounds you and which spiritualists and mystics feel is the essence of you as a human being. Then, let’s assume there’s more to life than we know, a safe assumption considering it just stands to reason none of us know everything.
So, how do you keep your aura in the pink of health and spot-free?
First, diet and exercise. What? Did you really think food, clean water and exercise wouldn’t be required for a healthy aura? Granted there’s debate on which foods are best to eat, but basically we’re still looking at a balanced diet, eating fresh versus processed, and—wait for it—portion control.
As for exercise, a mix of endurance, strength, balance, and flexibility training is needed for both physical and aura health, just add something extra. Standing or sitting, imagine your body surrounded by an egg-shaped energy field emanating one to two feet out from your body. Now, visualize expanding that field to touch the edges of the room, then bring it back to your body again. “Rinse and repeat” a few times and even envision your aura becoming cleaner and brighter as you work. Do this every day, and you’ll find you’ve gained a brand new aura awareness.
Second, meditation. There’s so many approaches to take to meditation, I’ll leave it to you to explore what works best for you. Whichever method you choose, you’ll find it helps you focus and avoid information overload, all the while relieving stress and releasing stagnant energy which blocks the aura. And the good news is, you don't need to buy yoga pants, burn incense, or even sit a particular way!
Third, repair. Over time, an aura develops tiny rips and tears that leak. Have you ever had one of those days when you’re jumpy as all get-out, or maybe you’re so out of whack you can’t seem to do anything right? There’s a variety of fixes, e.g., acupuncture, acupressure, Reiki, hands-on or intuitive healing. However, you might try a self-healing technique called “unruffling.” Visualize that egg-shaped field around your body again. Then, rub your palms together to activate healing energy within your hand chakras. Starting above your head, “smooth” your aura with your hands as if brushing your hair. Work down from there and don’t forget your sides. Picture rips knitting back together while you work. Once you reach your feet, place your hands on the floor to ground yourself.
So now you know how to spit-shine that aura of yours. If you’re a skeptic at heart like me, you might take some of this with a grain of salt. On the other, maintaining one’s aura health couldn’t hurt.
